Rules of the Rails

Railways are a great way to get around the server, however, due to their transnational nature, rules must be followed so everyone can have a smooth experience using them.

These following rules apply to all rail lines on the server.

Anything done that requires admin action may cause one to be issued with a warning. Repeated behaviour could result in a ban or other further sanctions, fully at the admin's discretion

NOTE: There are no rules against how big or small a train can be. However, the railway doesn't necessarily have to cater to extra large trains either. Best to not make your train any wider than seven blocks from the centre. Trains taller than ten blocks shoud carry water in a tank, which will notify the railway that it is a tall train.

Construction

Ask 20CaptainX12 if you need a rail line constructed, it's free. You will need a station platform. Make sure it is long enough, and it is advised that it has an entrance and an exit point. It is ill-advised to make or use alternatives to the main overworld network. It is also heavily discouraged to construct your own interkingdom networks, and such networks may be removed or painted over at any time without notice.

Rail networks may be connected to the main line by admins, but can get a rule exemption.

Overworld locations may not be connected through the Nether via rail. However, a nether location may be connected to the Overworld line. Nether portals are fairly glitchy with the rail network. The Nether is NOT to be used for long-distance rail transport, and should only really be used to access the likes of farms or bases from the overworld.

Accidents

We understand that accidents happen. If an accident does happen, eg, you die in a train crash 3km away from your base and it clogs up the main rail, or you had to go urgently and left your train somewhere.

No matter what the circumstance, please DM 20CaptainX12 and Craft49er on Discord. We won't punish you at all if you tell us what happened, we'd just rather be told that something went wrong and where it happened instead of realise that something is wrong and trying to figure out where it happened.

However, we aren't a ferry service, so please take care of your train as best as possible :)

Riding the line

Trains must be travelling on the right-hand-side of the railway when two or more rails are available. Exemptions to this rule are when you are turning at a junction.

You MUST carry a Wrench at all times when riding your train. It is also recommended that you carry at least a stack of building blocks, too.

YOU MUST NOT take a train that isn't yours without permission

Obstructions

Train lines MUST NOT be obstructed by structures which may cause harm to other players riding trains. Train lines must be clear. If a structure is obstructing a train line in a lethal and dangerous manner, admins can delete it.

If a train is blocking a railway, it is liable to be seized to a safe location. If the owner cannot be identified, the owner wouldn't be notified of the trains seizure.

War and attacks

If you wish to attack/disrupt a train, that is allowed in the context of war (for the same reasons as war), however it must be done by removing the railway, not putting traps on the railway, as this can hurt other players. You then may attack the occupants as per the rules of war (eg, you cannot outnumber them, etc.). However, you MUST replace and fix the railway as soon as possible.

You may also board a train too, even if it is moving, for the purposes of an attack. This could be done with an elytra or any similar method that you might find. It would also make you look really cool. Hijacking is allowed, provided it is for good reason (in the context of war), and is returned to the owner after the conflict has ended. (This also permits you to steal trains that are also weapons. But make sure that other players from that kingdom are online to defend their trains.)

Installation of signals

YOU MUST install signals when adding a station to the main line, as not doing so may cause obstruction. Signals can be provided in a reasonable capacity to you for free by 20CaptainX12

Naming

You MUST name a train that is running on the main line. Try and name it in relation to your username or team.

It is advised that you also name station blocks too.

Scheduling

You MUST remove a train station from the schedule if the owner of the station requests you to do so.

You MUST NOT use a shuttle station for non shuttle trains, whether it is in your own kingdom or not.

It is strongly advised that you use schedules at all times when riding a train, as this allows the train to autopilot.

Exemptions

Anywhere signposted "RAILWAY JURISDICTION ENDS HERE" Is exempt from these rules

Advisory of the rails

These rules are just for making a good quality station and rail network through your kingdoms

Stations

Leave stations plenty of space for at least a few carriages of a medium sized train (Think three carriages long, each carriage has two bogeys, and is at most 5 blocks wide and 7 tall)

Assume that the train can only travel forward and not backwards. Some trains can go both forward and backwards, but not all trains. If you are making a public station, make sure trains have a way out by means of going forward.

Again, name your station, so it can be easily identified on a schedule.

Railways

Try and make the railway five blocks wide. This will make it visually look like there is a block free either side of the rail.

Try and make it 5-7 blocks high as well. If it is far too short where it will damage players in a moderately sized train, it may be found in violations of the rules.

If you are running dual railways, it is advised that you leave at least 5 blocks in between them (from the centre of the track, visually it would look like 3)

Trains

If your train is overly tall (over 9 blocks), equip it with a fluid tank which has at least some water in it. The railway will try and redirect it away from tunnels.

These rules are subject to change at any time.

Enjoy the usage of the railway!
